Brooklyn Park Community Foundation

OUR MISSION AND VISION

The purpose of the Brooklyn Park Community Foundation is to provide financial support to programs or services within or for the city of Brooklyn Park. It was organized exclusively for charitable purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations qualifying as an exempt organization from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.

WHO DO WE SERVE?

Brooklyn Park social service agencies report that there is a high need for social services, especially in the areas of food shelves, clothing closets, rent assistance and programs that help individuals obtain a car.  Request for assistance are increasing dramatically and agencies are scrambling to keep up with the demand.  Schools are facing cuts and programs that would benefit the children are often unable because of lack of funding.  The same is true for programs that benefit teens and seniors.  When there is a shortage of funding, application for money through a grand process with the Foundation will be there to help.

Even though the northwest portion of  Hennepin County is not commonly seen as a needy community, concerned citizens of Brooklyn Park saw a need for a community foundation.  This foundation would assist Brooklyn Park and its residents with basic needs, as well as
strengthening programs that would build on already existing services.  The Brooklyn Park Community Foundation will be able to provide coordinated funding for services needed by its residents and become a long term source of assistance.
